4th Indo-French Joint Workshop of Research Collaborations in the
Field of Non destructive Testing (NDT) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM)

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
Industries depend on Non destructive Testing (NDT) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) to ensure the integrity and availability of their assets, may it be in the Energy, The Transportation, or the Manufacturing fields. Homogenization of the procedures adapted, trained and certified personnel, availability of key technologies and knowhow, etc., will ensure the adaptation of industries to the NDT and SHM technology in both countries. In this regards, an MoU has been signed by the respective NDT societies (COFREND and ISNT) of the two countries in Dec 2017 in Chennai.
Collaborations between Indian and French organizations, universities, and Industries in the field of Nondestructive Testing and Structural Health Monitoring was further enhanced through the 3rd Joint workshop in the field of NDT and SHM in New Delhi on 9th March 2018 as a part of the visit by the Hon. President Macron to India.
This 4th Indo-French workshop will aim build research partnerships between Indian and French organizations/industries in the field of NDT/SHM. The workshop will feature 5ROUNDTABLE discussions with participants from India and France. The Roundtable discussion topics include (a) Establishment of a Indo-French joint research center in NDT/SHM, (b) Opportunities for joint research in Power Industries, (c) Opportunities for joint research in Aerospace Industries, and (d) Opportunities for joint research in process and manufacturing industries, (e) Establishment of a Indo-French higher education forum in NDT/SHM. The round-table will be bringing together a mix of participants from universities, industries, societies, and government labs from both countries.
The objectives of this round-table discussion will be to explore opportunities to develop an R&D network comprising of Indian and French universities/institutions and the French companies in India and Indian Companies in France. This Network will aim to address R&D problems and explore avenues for providing cost effective and relevant R&D solutions to the industry through synergistic collaborations. The participants will comprise of researchers, industry R&D personnel, and university faculty as well as R&D funding agencies such as CEFIPRA.

The duration for the roundtable discussions is recommended to be 90 minutes each and the typical format may involve two 10 minute presentations, one from French and one from Indian side followed by active discussions and ending with the drafting of a joint statement on the way forward with timelines. For each roundtable, the Moderatorswill have the additional responsibility of preparing and moderating the discussions and summarizing the joint statements along with action plan.
